Interstellar Review

Last night I had the great pleasure to witness one of the greatest films ever made. I was speechless, gobsmacked and mind blown at the sheer awesomeness that this film was.

For Sci-Fi buffs and Nolan fans, this is definitely an experience and film I recommend you see in an IMAX type of cinema. The sound was crystal perfect, it even had the effect of making the seats move and rustle at key moments which made the audience feel as if they too were also traveling in the space ship to the furthest reaches of the Galaxy.

I loved Matthew McConaughey’s portrayal of Cooper. He is definitely going to be nominated for another Oscar, (yet I still believe Michael Keaton has it in the bag.)

The film begins with the introduction of Earth and how resources are now so low that humanity’s final chance is to send McConaughey and his team to try and explore new worlds to inhabit. It is by chance (or is it?) that McConaughey stumbles upon the remaining last hope chance of NASA.

My favorite scene though was at the beginning, when the family of Cooper, Murphy and Tom all drove in their car to chase down a drone. The cinematography and way in which this and the entire sequence of the film was done was absolutely phenomenal. Another key scene which stood out for me was the first planet they visited which was surrounded in water.

I won’t say no more.. But wow. That wave.

I could ramble on about this film for ever, and I probably will once my exams are over, (like PWOAR THAT ENDING!) but for me Interstellar is perfect.

Verdict

Whilst I can understand why some people may have serious issues with the film, to me personally I believe it is through Hans Zimmer’s music and Nolan’s creativity that a true masterpiece has been created. A must see film for any movie buff. Near perfect in every way possible.

Melbourne Cup – A Tragedy In It’s Entirety.

Today’s Melbourne Cup celebrated it’s 154th year, a time where bettors alike (myself included) all were able to choose who we believed would win the grand event and possibly earn some money. But.. now after today’s tragedy is betting on animals still deemed to be alright?

A dramatic turn of events has now seen both Admire Rakti and Araldo tragically have their lives taken away from them.

Rakti was a Japanese born and bred horse aged only six years old. Born on the 20th of Feburary 2008, Admire was the hot favorite for today’s Melbourne Cup. When the race started, Rakti seemed to fly, having a steady pace in 2nd.. Only to then slowly drop back and finish last. I then wonder if this horse was pushed to its limits? Or if the medical examination beforehand was even done properly?

Rakti then tragically collapsed due to a believed heart attack or possible internal bleeding which was brought on by the race.

Such a beautiful horse. And such a tragedy to see her fatally pass away like she did today.

Yet to only make matters worse, I then heard that a second horse was being immediately rushed to the Werribee Veteranary due to the fact it had been frightened by an on looker which in turn caused a leg to become broken from the fence.

I then heard good news that Aralado may have been able to survive.. Yet only moments ago news reports have claimed him to now also be deceased.

A tragic way to end one of the largest sporting events this country of ours holds.

It now raises the debate on whether we should even have horse races. The world of horse racing has events like this every year where by thousands of horses are killed once they have fallen or have broken a bone. It’s inhumane and it’s utterly and completely wrong!

Yet it’s these cases which are silent and are unheard of.

Whilst tomorrow we all shall go back to eating our meat and forgetting about these creatures.. My advice or my belief is that horses shouldn’t have the need to die because of racing. They should be able to go like we all want too – of old age. But not only should we worry about horses, but for all creatures who are treated poorly and tragically meet their demise due to unsubstantial circumstances.

I believe we need to change our ways and avoid becoming a more savage and barbaric civilization powered by greed and wealth.

R.I.P Admire Rakti and Araldo.

Review: Taylor Swift – 1989

Taylor Swift’s latest album “1989” has taken the world by storm.

It contains the songs:
1. Welcome to New York
2. Blank Space
3. Style
4. Out Of The Woods
5. All You Had To Do Was Stay
6. Shake It Off
7. I Wish You Would
8. Bad Blood
9. Wildest Dreams
10. How You Get The Girl
11. This Love
12. I Know Places
13. Clean

This album is one of Swift’s greatest so far, capturing up rhythmic beats whilst also sending clear cut messages to listeners.

It’s apparent she has subtly tried to move away from the whole “dumping boyfriend” scenario, yet a few songs still subtly incorporate this.

The social media aspect for this album has been done quite well. Something I find to have never been done before. On Swifts account on Twitter, herself and her team capture listeners photos of themselves with the product. I find this to be a great way to not only interact with fans, but also to emphasize the importance of this album to the broader community and to continue to express her good and well matured role model ideology to the millions of fans she has out there.

Whilst I haven’t usually been a Swiftian, this album does contain some catchy tunes and it most definitely will appeal to those who already love her music.

I’m scoring it a 4.6 out of 5.

Day 3- The Storm of a lifetime

So I was peacefully asleep dreaming up probably my exam in the next week when all of a sudden I heard a loud BANG. I awake and see a bright light colour.

At first my instinct is that Aliens have invaded and this is the end of the world… But no it’s just a really bad storm. Here’s a nice image I found on Twitter:

Whilst it may be scary.. It is quite magical. Remember to keep the dogs and cats indoors because they’ll be really scared atm!

I pray we don’t have any floods this time around.

I best get some sleep. Will probably do another post later in the day!

Day 2 – My View of Melbourne

Today is Sunday the 26th of October. Whilst visiting a relative of ours, I captured this beautiful image of Melbourne.

There’s something so unique about the culture of this city which makes it so different to everywhere else in the world. Is it the variety of people? food? culture? religion?

The thing I have found to be such a great thing about this city.. Is the fact everybody seems to get on well. It’s that true Aussie spirit which makes this city stand out among others. As well as this, we have buskers all along the streets performing magic tricks, dances and my favorite one: Music.

It seems that Melbourne is so full of “everything” which seems to make people just bond together.

Anyway that’s my thoughts for the day!

Day 1- Beginnings

Hello world!

I have always wanted to create a blog, and since my Year 11 exams are in two weeks what a better time to start procrastinating right here and right now. Over the course of the coming days, weeks, months and years should I hopefully still keep my blog! I’ll be writing on events, news or places that appeal to me during my daily commute on my way to school.

I have always been traveling on the train since Year 5 and with four or sometimes more train “trips” a day too and from my destination I always see things that capture my attention.

I hope this is only the beginning of something great and I cannot wait to begin 🙂
